Epsom Polo Club was affiliated to the HPA in 1989 by David Anderson on land first surveyed in the Domesday Book. David had won the tender to build the Equestrian Centre in Horton Country Park at Epsom, and so Europe’s largest Indoor Arena was built.
David’s introduction to polo came from a few indelible words from his father, a high ranking army officer. Much like the passion that David has passed on to his four sons today.
David created the Club with a vision of forming a family-focused equestrian centre to enjoy a multitude of equestrian sports – with close accessibility to London. Polo is played all your round at Epsom, both indoors and outdoors – where the club offers excellent polo and riding facilities. Riding lessons can be booked via the Riding School with wonderful hacking throughout Horton Country Park and Epsom Common. Not far from Epsom Race Course!
David’s latest venture is Taylor Anderson Racing which is a way of showing appreciation to all the trainers who have supplied ponies to David, and the wider polo community, over the last 20 years. Currently, TAR have 3 brood mares who have produced 4 racehorses (“youngsters”), eventually to be trained for polo via the racecourse.
Today, David’s four talented polo-playing sons run the club. It wasn’t by accident that David had four sons, just enough for the finest Anderson polo team! Together they offer lessons at all levels; instructional chukkas; host tournaments and can be hired to play at home or away at any competitive level. Also available at the Club are a selection of reliable and safe rental ponies, as well as a selection of ponies to buy. The Club offers a full livery service.
